WatchCat is an uptime and cron monitoring service built for developers and teams who need reliable alerting without sending their monitoring data outside Europe.
You set up monitors, WatchCat runs checks in the background, and your team gets notified the moment something goes wrong — whether that's a website going down or a scheduled job that silently stopped running.
Two types of monitoring
Uptime monitoring
WatchCat sends HTTP requests to your endpoints at a regular interval and opens an incident when they stop responding correctly. Use this for websites, APIs, and any service that should always be reachable.
What is uptime monitoringCron monitoring
Your scheduled jobs ping WatchCat each time they run. If a ping doesn't arrive within the expected window, you get alerted. Use this for background jobs, database backups, and any recurring task that runs outside your main application.
What is cron monitoringWhy EU-hosted?
Most monitoring services run on US infrastructure. That means your monitoring data — endpoint URLs, response bodies, job schedules — flows through servers outside Europe. For teams subject to GDPR or internal data residency policies, that creates complexity.
Core monitoring infrastructure — HTTP checks, incident data, and stored results — runs on EU infrastructure. Check requests originate from EU locations and all monitoring data is stored in the EU.
When you enable alert integrations such as Slack or Discord, alert notifications pass through those providers' own servers, which are outside the EU. This is opt-in: if you only use email alerts or EU-hosted webhooks, no monitoring data leaves Europe. The subprocessors page lists every third-party service and where it processes data.
Alerts
Alerts go out over Slack, Discord, Telegram, Google Chat, email, or any webhook endpoint. You can configure multiple channels per monitor and pause individual channels without touching the monitor itself.
